Government Receives Project Report on the Metro Route Linking Dwarka Expressway

Government Receives Project Report on the Metro Route Linking Dwarka Expressway

As per the latest media reports, the detailed project report of Gurugram metro route which will link Huda City Centre with Sector 23, is finally ready. The work had already been delayed for three months, and this news brings a great sigh of relief to the people.

The sources in the Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) said that the project report is submitted to Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation (HMRTC). The project report prepared by RITES was discussed in a meeting held on last Friday, i.e. 15th February 2019 between officials of GMDA, HMRTC, and RITES (Rail India Technical and Economic Service).

According to the report presented by an official, the metro route will start from Huda City Centre and go up to Sector 23 while connecting Subhash Chowk, Hero Honda Chowk, Dwarka Expressway near Sector 101 and 104 and sectors 4, 5, 10A, 10, 9 and 9A. A senior GMDA official said, "The report has been submitted by RITES to HMRTC, and it will be sent to the Centre for its approval soon. After this, we can expect to start work. We hope that work on the project can be started this year itself."

The initial plan was to build 19 stations on the metro corridor which have now been changed. The latest revised plan decided by the authorities claims 22 stations. The development not only comes as a big relief for metro travellers but also to the thousands of homebuyers on Dwarka Expressway Gurugram who have been demanding and patiently waiting for a metro link connecting the new sectors along the much-delayed expressway. According to sources, the government was highly anticipating that Dwarka Expressway will see a lot of residential and commercial development activity in the coming years, which is why it reconsidered the Dwarka Expressway metro alignment and took it up to the expressway, which is also known as Northern Peripheral Road (NPR).

The sources had more to reveal as per the revised report. The change incorporated in the new plan is to divert the alignment before the city railway station, as earlier it was supposed to go right up to it. As a result, the concerned authorities have decided that the metro link will turn 600-700m ahead of the station. The official added, “It isn’t feasible for the metro to take a turn right at the railway station. Hence, the link will turn a few hundred meters before it. We will be installing a travelator to connect the metro station with the railway station for the convenience of commuters".

With this latest project report on plan revision and metro linking Dwarka Expressway will have the demand rise even more for residential Properties in Dwarka Expressway.
