There are three ways to pay the stamp duty charges for a property in Andhra Pradesh:

  • Franking

  • E-stamping

  • Stamp-paper submission

Steps To Pay Stamp Duty In Andhra Pradesh Using SHCIL's Portal

The state government of Andhra Pradesh has collaborated with SHCIL (Stock Holding Corporation of India) to enable online stamp duty payment. 


SHCIL is a public limited company of the Government of India responsible for e-stamping in various states of the country. RBI (Reserve Bank of India) authorises it to receive and distribute relief bonds and savings with nationalised banks. Use the following steps if you want to pay stamp duty and property registration charges in Andhra Pradesh using SHCIL:

Step 1: Visit SHCIL’s official website

Step 2: Select Andhra Pradesh from the drop-down menu showing the list of states

Step 3: Click on the login button appearing on the right-hand side

Step 4: Enter your username and password

Step 5: Enter your property details 

Step 6: Pay the required stamp duty charges in AP online by choosing one among the following payment modes:

a. Online banking

b. NEFT

c. Debit/Credit Card

Exemptions On Stamp Duty In AP

You get an exemption on the registration fee and stamp duty if you use the land for developing solar projects.


Refund Of Stamp Duty In Andhra Pradesh

You can claim a reimbursement of the stamp duty in AP within a maximum of six months of paying it. In case you file a petition within six months, the stamp duty will be repaid after deducting 10% of the gross stamp duty payable.


Here are the steps to get a refund of stamp duty charges in Andhra Pradesh:

Step 1: Send the following details to the District Collector, Sub-Collector, Deputy Collector, R.D.O., or Tahsildar as per Section 2(9) of the I.S. Act:

a. Request for a refund

b. Challan 

c. The original receipt provided by the specified bank  

Step 2: The sub-registrars will verify whether your challan is valid and whether the receipt has been used or not. 

Once the verification is done, they will issue you a certificate. The stamp duty in AP will be refunded based on the certificate issued by the sub-registrar.
