The Prime Minister of India laid the foundation of the Red Line Metro in Mumbai in October 2015. The Aarey metro station on Metro Red Line 7 opened for service on April 2, 2022. The Aarey metro has two tracks with a good security system. The approximate cost involved in the construction of Red Line 7 is INR 6208 Crore.

The Red Line 7 is expected to be connected to other lines, along with bus and rail services, via multiple interchanges throughout the route. The final stretch of Red Line 7 will be from Dahisar East to Andheri East. The total length of the Red Line-7 would be 16.495 km and 14 stations. As of now, the line ends at Aarey, and only ten stations are operational.
