The Government of India has undertaken the ambitious initiative of constructing the Ganga expressway, a high-speed road network that will stretch alongside the majestic Ganga river. 

The Ganga expressway length is 594 km. It will pass through 12 districts and link Meerut to Prayagraj. The Ganga expressway’s major cities are Meerut, Hapur, Amroha, Badaun, Bulandshahr, Hardoi, Rae Bareli, Unnao, and Pratapgarh and Prayagraj. 

The construction work of Uttar Pradesh’s largest motorway, i.ethe Ganga expressway is going at a rapid pace. As per the Ganga expressway latest news, the project is expected to be completed before Kumbh Mela 2025.  Once completed, it will be a game changer in the state’s transportation network. The travel time between Meerut to Prayagraj will be cut down to 8 hours.

Ganga Expressway Route

The Ganga Expressway Project is a greenfield project that will have a six-lane corridor or can expand to an eight-lane corridor, if required. A 594-km long expressway, the Ganga expressway route is designed to connect over 12 districts in UP. This project is planned to boost the infrastructure and economic growth of the entire corridor. 

The Ganga expressway will be crucial in streamlining the transport system in the rural UP neighborhood that were previously poorly connected. The expressway will be crucial for East-West connectivity, creating an ecosystem for infrastructure growth.

The Ganga expressway route map initiating node is on NH 334 in Meerut, while the terminating node will be near Soraon on NH 19.


Ganga Expressway: Phase I

Phase 1 of the Ganga expressway project is divided into 12 different packages. The Ganga expressway project cost involved is Rs 37350 Cr, which includes the land acquisition costs of over Rs 9500 Cr. 

  • Bijauli to Chandner: 48.9 km

  • Chandner to Mirzapur Dungal: 30 km

  • Mirzapur Dungal to Nagla Baraha: 50.7 km

  • Nagla Baraha to Binawar: 52.1 km

  • Binawar to Dari Gulau: 46.7 km

  • Dari Gulau to Ubariya Khurd: 52.9 km

  • Ubariya Khurd to Iksai: 52.4 km

  • Iksai to Raiya Mao: 50.2 km

  • Raiya Mao to Sarson: 53.1 km

  • Sarson to Terukha: 51.8 km

  • Terukha to Naudhiya: 52 km

  • Naudhiya to Judapur Dandu: 53 km

Ganga Expressway: Phase II

The phase 2 of the Ganga express highway will run from Tigri near Garhmukteshwar to the Uttarakhand border near Haridwar.

There will be no restrictions on any kind of vehicle, like cars, vans, trucks, etc. Furthermore, commercial vehicles that are registered by the district authorities will also be able to access the expressway.
